NBC HOCKEY BROADCAST

Posted on: March 22, 2012 2:34 pm

Can we please export Pierre McGuire? The absolute worst commentator on the planet. Its so obvious that NBC still has zero clue as to what it takes to draw fans to watch their telecast. Mike E, Edzo, and Mcguire are the worst tandem ever, their broadcast is so negative. "Edzo" the whole time sounds bitter that he is a has been......the mindless banter between him and Mcguire is mind numbing!!! I cant help but change the channel. I left the Red Wings vs Rangers to watch Blackhawks vs Canucks because I couldnt listen to these 3 anymore. If you want to settle in and listen to a real broadcast then Hockey Night in Canada with Mike Hughson behind the mic is where you need to be.

Bag this crew before they ruin the playoffs.......

NBC HOCKEY BROADCAST

Maybe I am biased, but I feel that the job MSG does on the broadcasts is head-and-shoulders above NBC.  Aside from the over-the-top commentary on NBC, the production itself is atrocious.  Take the Rangers Devils game as an example:  At MSG there would have been isolation cameras on each of the opening faceoff combatants and we would have gotten a replay of each fight from the respective iso-cam.  On NBC we had to watch from the panoramic cam and see all three at the same time.  Later, there was a booth review of a non-goal and all the TV viewers got to see was the referee on the phone with Toronto while we listened to mindless chatter from the announcers.  MSG would have shown five-different angles of the non-goal while we waited for the interpretation.  Add to that the fact that NBC would rather show us promos of upcoming broadcasts in-between plays than replays of the action, though that would also require someone sophisticated enough to provide color commentary, which Edzo, is unable to do.  When we do get replays, we don’t get enough of the development of the play to understand / enjoy what happened.
